I find it striking that us addicts
are simultaneously the most fucked-up people
and the wisest

Acceptance
Acceptance isn’t passive.
It is active.
It is facing and contending.
Trying
I’m not perfect,
but I am trying.
Trying isn’t everything.
It doesn’t undo the mistakes I’ve made,
heal the people I’ve hurt,
or bring back the time I’ve wasted.
But it IS something.
It is not nothing.
A Prayer for You
This poem is dedicated to myself and to all of my readers. ❤
“The places where you have the biggest challenges in your life become the places where you have the most to give, if you do your inner work.” –Tracy McMillan
——————————————————————
I pray
that the pain of your today
becomes the pride of your tomorrow.
I pray
that the struggle of your today
becomes the strength of your tomorrow.
I pray
that the torment of your today
becomes the triumph of your tomorrow.
Small (Big) Triumphs
Today,
I can listen to the same songs
about toxic relationships
that used to trigger
an ache of recognition
and only feel
a remembrance of that ache,
a compassion for my past self.
It is in these small moments
(which really aren’t small at all)
that I see how far
I’ve come.
Scathed Well
Don’t aim
to come out of life
unscathed.
Aim
to come out of it
scathed well:
Scathed, but using your scars
for the betterment of others
and yourself
Forgiveness VI
I used to think
my forgiveness
was in vain
because it didn’t
change you.
Now I know
it wasn’t
because it changed
me.
A Massacre I Welcome
To grow,
we must accept
death after death
of the selves
we used to be
to make room
for the births
of the selves
we will become
A massacre
I welcome
